Warren Miller Tribute

I would like to throw a shout out to the man who started the movement of getting a ski feinds life on camera. Warren Miller and his company has been around capturing the greatest ski moments for some time now. Warren Miler and his company have been pushing the limits of skiing everyday since he started skiing himself, they take every thing to the next level and they also get great i mean absolutely fantastic footage of everything that they do. so all i have to say is thank you warren you are a true inspiration to skiers every where and keep skiing!!! Your The Man

Ski Crashes

Here is a video of some of the best at skiing at their worst moments.

Chair Lift Skiing

It is a little hard to think that back in the day people would hike the mountains for even run they wanted to take. all i can say is thank god for chair lifts. this is an amazing invention that lets skiers get six times the amount of skiing in in a day then before chair lifts. there are all sorts of different kinds some high speed some low speed but none the less the get you up the mountain a lot easier then before they were around. so i would like to thank the inventors of the chairlift because with out you, my lazy bum might not be as big of a skier as i am today.

Cat Skiing

This is very similar to heli skiing accept that you stay on the ground the entire time. the skiers take a snow cat up to the top of the mountain to some unbelievable terrain and then the ski down. when the skiers get to the bottom then they get back on the cat and go back up the mountain. this is another level of epic skiing not as sick as heli but still amazing.

Alaskan Heli Skiing

This has been a dream of mine ever since i saw my first warren miller film when i was a little youngster. alaskan help skiing is the slickest of the sick nasty and the gnarlyest of the gnar gnar. taking a helicopter from a boat up to the top of the mountains to ski terrain that has never been touched before is an absolute dream. and these people do it on the regular. when i get out of college I'm either going to go work for theses people or figure out how to come up with enough money to go on one one these trips. this is amazing!!!

Ski Train

this is an awesome idea that i have never herd of before, this is a train that takes you somewhere to the top or near the top of a mountain and it is filled with skiers. then they let you out of the top of the mountain. the train heads down the mountain and the skier first have lunch, then hike a little bit before heading down. this is because they need to give the train some time to get down the mountain first as well as the hiking gets the skiers to some better terrain.

Funny comercial

just a funny commercial that involves skiers on a chair lift.

One of Alpine Racings Finest

This is Bode Miller he is one of the alpine legends of our time. he is an amazing athlete and can do extraordinary things on skis. this is just one run from one of his amazing races.

Skiing and Me

I have been skiing since i was about three years old and every winter since then i have and skis under my feet. i truly love the sport and it feels like a vacations every time i get out on the mountain. skiing is my absolute favorite sport to do and to watch. i used to be a avid racer where all i did was train and think about skiing. i can't express enough how i feel about skiing. continually pushing yourself to the limit to see what your capable of is amazing.

just another sick video

Anton Suspension Ski

this is another amazing technological advancement for skiing. this is a ski that has an independent suspension system so that the skier gets a smother ride and can hold the snow better.
I really want to know how these skis feel when your on them. they look cool too!

Bromley Snow Report

Bromley tends to have a hard time holding on to its snow because it faces the sun in the after noon thus making the snow melt. but this is Bromley's snow report.

Trails Open: 0 Lifts Open: 0 New: " Base Depth: 8-20" Primary Surface: Reopen 12/17

Snow Report
As a result of the latest weather reports we have decided to suspend operations until Saturday, December 17th

you can see that bromley is having a hard time right now. they are not getting the conditions that they want and the snow just won't cooperate with them.

Hope they thing turn around for this mountain.

Killington Snow Report

killington was open much earlier then straton and the other surrounding mountains so it makes sense that it wail have a better snow report. but here it is

Open Trails: 28
Open Lifts: 7
Miles of Skiing: 11
Acres of Skiing: 148
Surface Conditions: Machine Groomed/Loose Granular

as for the weather it looks like killington is going to be getting some snow today. they are expecting a light dusting which could hopefully turn into a larger storm. either way it will help with the conditions and it will be great to get out there.

Stratton Snow Report

currently this is Strattons Snow Report
Mountain Update:
Please note that this report reflects our projection for Friday, December 16. Today’s weather is a sign of a cold front moving through the area, which happily will bring with it much colder temperatures. Snowmaking should resume by daybreak tomorrow! The guns should run non-stop through Monday morning to get us deeper and expanded coverage. More details on snowmaking will come once we know what Mother Nature has in store for us. For tomorrow, we expect to have the same trails open with skiing and riding available for all ability levels and a hikeable terrain park on Lower Standard. Unmarked hazards and early season conditions may exist on the hill – observe all posted signs and warnings!

this looks like it is going to be a good sign we want colder weather so that we can go skiing.
currently they have
OPEN TRAILS: 12
OPEN LIFTS: 4
OPEN TERRAIN: 76 acres
BASE DEPTH: 10-16" inches

This is an ok start to the season Stratton has had much better in the past.

SKi Season is Here

Finally ski season is here. About two weeks ago I got out on the snow at Killington and it was great. It was the earliest mountain open this year in southern vermont and they actually had decent snow. The only bad thing was that I went skiing the day after thanksgiving which is one of the busiest ski days of the year. Even though it was busy it was great to get out for a little bit. Also more good news Stratton mountain is now open and that is my home mountain so... SKI SEASON LETSS GOOOO!!!!

See you on the hill!

Stupid Skiers

This is a video of some skiers that are clearly pushing their limits at skiing.

The Ski Race

It was a cool morning with the sun just coming over the mountains, it was time to get up. The boy eager with anticipation readies himself for the day. He jumps in the shower and cleans himself faster than the average person washes their hand. The boy Runs back to his room and begins to put on his lucky long under wear with the tear in the left side near his calf. Double checking and even triple checking his room “which he never does” he makes sure he has everything he needs.
In the kitchen both his parents were waiting for him. Mom had made him his favorite breakfast and his father was sitting there happily with his coffee and newspaper. The father asks the boy “are you ready for the big race chuck?” The boy responded “I cant wait dad, the whole school is going to be there and today is finally my chance to beat John Travis”.
You see today was the big all school ski race, all the student compete against one another for the fastest time down the course. This year was especially important to chuck because he was in the eighth grade and the older kids always get the fastest times. Chuck and John have been having a little rivalry every since the 5th grade when they decided to see who could get the better time in the race. Chuck had beaten john but john said that it didn’t count because chucks skis were to fast. Chuck did have a nice pair of skis in fact they were a great pair of skis but they were not that much different from johns. So chuck knew that john was just being a sore loser.
The boy finishes up his breakfast and heads out to the mountain. On the ride to the mountain the boy could hardly stay in his seat, there was nothing more that he wanted then to be in the starting gate staring down at the race course. They get to the lodge and the first person he sees is his friend john. They both greet each other then immediately start teasing one another about who is going to win. After seeing john the boy heads over to a bench and begins to put on his gear. His father sits down next to him and says “listen chuck we both know that you are a better skier then john, but don’t let that get to your head. Focus on the skiing and not on the winning and you will do fine” the boy replies “dad don’t worry about a thing I am taking the blue ribbon home no matter what today”
After a final pep talk from his mother and father the boy headed out of the lodge to the mountain. He straps his skis in one at a time and looks for his rival/ski buddy john. He sees him in line on the chair lift and cuts a bunch of 5th graders that were now behind him. The boys head up the mountain and get a few practice runs in before the big race. Suddenly they hear over the mountains P.A. system “all racers to the starting gate, all racers to the starting gate.”
The boys heads over to the starting area and begins to warm up. Chuck has a secret stretch routine that he does every time before a race. He stretches and shakes all his different body parts to completely loosen up. While in his head the whole time he is thinking about the race course. He gets in line and starts to hear some of the times. 35.44, 35.14, 35.24 then he hears johns time who was only three skiers ahead of him 34.89. chuck was a little nervous at first but immediately began to think about the ski course again. He was now in the gate.
Standing in ready position the gatekeeper looks at the boy and says “good luck kid, have some fun”. There is a slight pause so the gate keep can hear from the bottom that the course is all clear. To the boy this felt like one of the longest waits in his life. Then suddenly the gatekeeper looks up and says “Racer ready! 3, 2, 1!” the boy throws himself out of the gate with great force. Hitting all the turns with perfect precision. Gates are flying by him and the crowd is cheering. He looks down the mountain “three gates left” he says to him self. “two” “o-n” at this point the boy just realized that he had hit the last gate with his boot. He instantly goes air born towards the finish line. He know that the laser that stops his time is near the ground so he reaches out his hand as far as it goes. As he is flying thru the air his finger tips just barley pass through the laser and the clock stops.
The boy fears that this severely made his time worse. He hears the timekeeper say his time “32.01”. At this point everyone in the crowd is electric the boy has beaten his friends’ time and made a huge show at the finish line. He was a star for those few minutes after the race.
Chuck gets up and heads over to his parents they both are so proud of him and congratulate him. His dad says to him “I liked the theatrics at the end there, but I think next time you should try to stay on the ground.” They all have a good laugh and out of the corner of his eye chuck sees john. John a few feet away was clapping for his friend who had just won the race. John says “Good job dude, that was sick” chuck replies “your not mad that I beat you?” John “no way man, I’m just glad that it was either you or me who won the race and not some other kid. Dude we took first and second high five.” The boys slap hands and head into the lodge.
Chuck and john standing on the pedestal next to each other only chuck just a little bit higher up then the rest. They are given their ribbon and applauded for their efforts. Chuck looks around the room and says to himself in his head “I could get used to this whole winning thing”. Chuck and john continue to ski together to this day and will always be the best of competitive friends.

Winters Beginning

Bad First Day; short story

Riding up the chairlift I have the perfect view of a person about to go down the mountain. This person is dressed up in baggy snow-pants and ski jacket that are made of obnoxious neon colors. You could tell from just the way the kid was standing that he was going to try and show off how good of a skier he was. He does a small jump turn and starts to head down the mountain. I grab my sisters attention and tell her to watch this person ski. The trail that this skier was going down was the most crowded trail on the mountain. Everyone from bginers to experts were on this trail but they were all taking it easy. This kid starts to fly down the mountain not making any turns; it is clear that he has lost control and is headed wherever the skis want to go. He accidentally launches into the top of the mogul field and is now bouncing violently from mogul top to mogul top. Somehow still on his feet, his knees are bouncing so hard it looks like that are hitting him in the face every time that come in contact with the next mogul. Alittle further down the trail there is a person in the middle of the trail going much slower then he is. He sees that he has only a few more moguls left before he slams into this person. All of the sudden slam! He hits a mogul that was much bigger then anticipated. His body now looks like a tomahawk flying thru the air head over heals, head over heals. The skier below him has no idea what is about to hit them. Then Boom the two skiers connect and it looks like a yard sale in the middle of the mountain. There are skis pole and all sorts of snow apparel all over the mountain. I guess nobody taught this kid self control.
If you could take anything away from this story it would be to take it easy on you first day of skiing. Also you realy should not push your limits to the extent that you hurt someone other than your self

Press Forward Productions

This is a video that a couple of my friends made. Just a bunch of goofs, goofin around.

Most Insane Skier Out There!!!

Simon Dumont continues to push skiing and himself to the limit every time he gets out on the slopes. Keep doing your thing man this is nasty.

Binding Tech

When it comes to keeping your feet secure to your skies Fischer has some of the best bindings that can do the job. These are state of the art bindings that can hold enormous amounts of pressure to the ski in rough conditions. Fischer not only makes them efficient but they also make them look good.

http://www.fischersports.com/us/Alpine/Technologies/Bindings/Binding-Technology

Boot Tech

So this is some of the latest technology in the ski boot industry. It is by Fischer and they claim that they new “vacuum-fit” has the perfect fit to the skiers foot. This allows the skier to have better control over the ski as well as have their balance more evenly distributed over the ski. I like my regular ski boots but these thing look and sound pretty cool.

“The global innovation - the first ski boot that really has a 100 % fit! Fischer VACUUM FIT technology makes it possible for the first time to have a completely anatomical fit of the entire boot in a quality that was previously unattainable. The basis for this is the new, patented Fischer VACU-PLAST material. The easy adjustment procedure which is comfortable for the customer takes only 20 minutes and offers an extremely reliable and stable result. The material can be reshaped up to five times. Thanks to Fischer VACUUM FIT, Fischer competence partners can guarantee their customers a 100 % perfect fit”

“Boots are different to conventional ski boots because of a unique stand position of the feet on the skis. The natural, offset V-position of the feet is retained and the body's centre of gravity lies directly above the middle of the ski. This means you have perfect power transfer, optimum grip and absolute precision.”

I don’t know if it works but it sounds awesome.

Bromley Review

If you are looking for a nice family, friendly, and, budgeted ski trip I would most definitely recommend Bromley Mountain. This is a nice mountain that has decent terrain for all levels of skier. One of the nice things about this mountain is that the lift tickets are on the cheep side, which is great if you just want a half day on the mountain with the family. On the other hand Bromley has some slow lifts some can take you over ten minutes to get you to your destination. They are not all slow though that have a high speed quad that takes skiers to the peek from the bottom of the mountain but this is only for skiers who are intermediate level or expert level. So if you are a novice or a beginner skier get ready to spend some time on the chair lift.

I would give Bromley mountain a B+ for an overall grade.

Killington Review

Killington is, I think the biggest ski resort on the east coast. This resort has over 6 peaks I believe with an enormous amount of terrain. It has chair lifts from fast to slow all over it so it is easy to get up the mountain but trying to figure your way around the mountain is a very tough thing to do because it is so big. Like Stratton mountain Killington has a gondola which is great for those really cold days where you want to keep skiing but you need to take a break from the cold for a little bit. Needles to say because Killington is so big it has a wide variety of terrain for all types of skiers to enjoy. Due to the big size of the resort it comes with a slightly larger price tag. So when you buy a ticket to come ski here you are going to want to get your full days worth.

Over all I would give Killington an A for a grade!
